With healthy food options costing almost three times the regular price of their junk food counter parts, it’s no wonder nations are experiencing obesity epidemics during times of financial hardship. Many issues such as “Fat Tax” have been at the forefront of the discussion, although some argue that the fat tax puts an unfair burden on the poor, who spend a higher percentage of their income on food. Regardless, the money gained from the tax on junk food could be used to subsidise healthier food, thus making fruits, vegetables and grains available to those who need it most.

Humans have eyes that look outward. We are extremely good at looking and criticizing others. But we usually set a lower standard for ourselves and we can’t watch ourselves.. or we perceive ourselves differently. For example, when you record your own voice, you’ll always say to yourself “I don’t sound like that”. The voice of your own self always surprises you. The only way to look at ourselves objectively, is to look into a mirror and meditation is the mirror. By removing all biases and looking at ourselves with our “heart eye”, we can see how fucked up we really are.
