Fondest memory as a kid?

If I had to choose, I would most likely lean towards sports and rec at school. My favorite would have been Athletics in short distance track.

Favourite Food?

Is this where I avoid saying fast food? Ha ha! At the moment, watermelon and cheese & garlic naan. What a mix!

What music gets you in the right frame of mind for achieving greatness?

Depends on the greatness I am trying to achieve. I listen to anything from classical to death metal and everything in-between.

Are you currently faced with any challenges?

Absolutely. I would have to say quitting smoking was a feat. It’s been 5 months so far without them and I’m slowly feeling the benefits. The challenge now will be to lose the 12 or so kilos I packed on!

Who do you look up to or find has been a defining influence in your life?

When it comes to fitness and training, I would have to say my instructor, Priscus. He is naturally motivating and an awesome trainer. Great bloke.

Do you have any pre training rituals?

I try and put some fuel in my bod about 3 hours before a training session. The training sessions go for 2 hours. Having the right amount of energy keeps me going and focused. Admittedly, this “ritual” doesn’t always go to plan!

What’s one piece of advice you wish to give?

It’s important to find the thing (or things) that motivates YOU. Everyone is different and they will become motivated by different things. Find yours and use it.

When you’re not being a badass, what can we find you doing?
Well, being a badass does take up a lot of time! I’m studying at the moment so I guess that’s something you can find me doing! And sleeping…. I do a lot of that!

What’s your proudest achievement?
I’m getting into personal development in a big way, e.g. study and training. I’m most proud of achieving my small milestones and goals such as completing a grading or finishing a course. I set myself small goals, that way, I can look back and see that I have actually achieved more than I realised.

What’s on your iPod at the moment?
My last played song was King Kunta – Kendrick Lamar.

What are you currently reading?

Just finished Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol. Haven’t chosen the next one yet.

What does your diet consist of?

I mainly stick to a clean paleoesque style of eating, consisting of fruit veg meat nuts and dairy. I try to source local organic produce to make sure that I’m getting all the proper nutrients my body needs.

Fondest memory as a kid?

Going to the Cub Scout Cuboree with my dad and getting to dress up as a knight in cardboard armour with wooden crossbows, swords and shields.

Favourite Food?

I would have to say baked lemon cheesecake and a double espresso, they balance each other out beautifully!

What music gets you in the right frame of mind for achieving greatness?

Whenever I go for a max lift I love to get something heavy blaring in my ears, Slipknot, Metallica, Disturbed, Drowning Pool, Rage Against The Machine etc.

But I find that during a long workout I need something calming to help me get my rhythm going, so Fat Freddys Drop is a must, John Mayer, The Cat Empire, Enigma etc.

Are you currently faced with any challenges?

My biggest challenge at the moment is my gymnastics, just gotta keep on chipping away at it for now.

Who do you look up to or find has been a defining influence in your life?

Ben Warren from Adapt Crossfit, this guy is an amazing coach and athlete and is an all round awesome dude.

When I get my own gym up and running I would be happy to be half the coach that he is.

Do you have any pre training rituals?

500m row, 5 strict chin ups, 10 pushups, 15 GHD situps, 20 squats. then some light stretching and some self massage with a ball and foam roller.

What’s one piece of advice you wish to give?

Set yourself some goals and make sure you achieve them y training hard, eating clean and listening to what your coaches have to say.

When you’re not being a badass, what can we find you doing?

You’ll find me reading out in the sun somewhere and chilling out with a bottle of water or cold press coffee

What’s your proudest achievement?

Making huge changes to myself

Whats on your iPod at the moment?

Everything from Enigma and Fat Freddys Drop, to Mastadon and Atreyu.

What are you currently reading?

At the moment im reading Renegade Mage by Robin Hobb. I love high fantasy novels.
